Title James Baldwin — “God gave Noah the rainbow sign: no more water, the fire next time”
A solemn, grief-stricken God appears mid-deliberation, hands and posture conveying hesitation and sorrow. A rainbow motif signals covenant, while Baldwin’s line—“no more water, the fire next time”—frames the scene as a warning about justice and consequence.
WELCOME TO MY WORLD
Welcome to my world, a world shaped by memory, observation, imagination, and more than five decades of asking what it means to be human.
I am Tyrone Geter, an artist shaped by memory, movement, ancestry, and the human struggle to remain visible. Through drawing, painting, collage, and mixed media, I explore the tensions between stillness and motion, clarity and uncertainty, suffering and hope.
THRESHOLD
A threshold is a place of transition.
That idea has followed me through much of my work.
I have spent a lifetime looking at people as they move through change, uncertainty, memory, struggle, hope, and the ordinary demands of being alive. Sometimes the change is personal. Sometimes it is social. Sometimes it is visible, and sometimes it is something taking place quietly beneath the surface.
The work on this site comes from many different periods of my life, but much of it returns to that same condition of being between one thing and another.
Threshold seemed like the right image to place near the beginning because it does not try to explain everything that follows. It simply opens the door.
The Baldwin quote adds another layer to that idea. The past is never completely gone. We carry parts of it with us, even as we move toward whatever comes next.
That is where much of my work begins.

COLLECTIBLE LIMITED EDITION AND VINTAGE PRINTS AVAILABLE
For those who wish to begin or expand an art collection, a carefully selected group of signed, limited-edition archival giclée prints and vintage reproductions is available. These prints offer collectors an opportunity to live with images drawn from more than five decades of artistic exploration. While the originals remain at the heart of my practice, each print is produced with the same respect for craftsmanship, preserving the spirit and integrity of the work for a new generation of collectors.
LINE VALUE SHAPE = MOTIONLESS MOVEMENT
Motionless Movement explores how still images can remain active through shifting lines, values, space, and texture. The series unfolds through two related bodies of work, Vibrations and Torn Paper, each approaching movement in a different way.
